It's been an eventful year for Honkai: Star Rail and it seems to be gearing up for even bigger things in 2025. The Version 2.7 livestream gave players a look at the much-awaited limited units Sunday and Fugue. Despite being characters fans adore, players were treated to even more exciting announcements: the new path, planet, and set of units coming to Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.0. Amphoreus is the Astral Express' next stop, and its characters are inspired by a theme that's tried and tested in gaming. This combination of a fresh gameplay mechanic, new characters, and the integration of popular mythology could be a big win for avid Trailblazers once Version 3.0 comes around.

The Remembrance path and its mechanics have been rumored to be in development for quite some time. It seems like the HSR leaks community got it right that the new path will heavily feature "summons" or "servants," officially known in the game as "Memosprites." Sprites are fairy-like beings prevalent in European folklore. The inspiration behind Amphoreus was also the subject of speculation by fans and leakers alike. Judging by the recent livestream trailer, their predictions were seemingly correct that the new planet and its people are closely modeled after Ancient Greek history and mythology.
According to Honkai: Star Rail’s Version 2.7 livestream, all characters walking the Path of Remembrance will have Memosprites that aid them in battle. These summons can also be buffed by certain ally abilities, like Aventurine’s Fortified Wager shield.

Why Greek Myth is a Great Addition to Honkai: Star Rail's Story

The gods, titans, and warriors of Greek mythology have been staples in different kinds of fiction for centuries. Apart from books and movies, this ancient folklore has naturally found its way into video games, to great success. Popular titles like God of War, Hades, and Assassin's Creed Odyssey call back to Greek myths, so it looks like video games and mythology are a winning pairing if done right.
There are myriad reasons for Greek mythology's continued popularity, one of which being that it all boils down to it being well-documented, relatively easy to understand, and filled with entertaining drama. The gods have clearly defined roles in the world like Poseidon ruling over and harnessing the power of the sea. Even today's modern literature is deeply rooted in the Ancient Greek stories of heroism, tragedy, and romance. Therefore, it's no surprise that games like Honkai: Star Rail would take inspiration from the esthetics and stories of Ancient Greek culture. There's even a rumor that some Amphoreus characters will be based on Greek mythical gods and characters like Hermes and Charon.

Greek Mythology and the Remembrance Path are the Perfect Match
It only makes sense for Amphoreus to have characters that follow the Remembrance in Honkai: Star Rail. After all, the path is about recording every memory and preserving every fact, akin to what the historians and scribes did with Ancient Greek history and mythology. Their legacy is prevalent across different cultures and generations because there is so much text about them. The game’s Data Bank states that Fuli sits at the center of their sanctuary, watching civilization make the same mistakes repeatedly. This can be said about real-life human history as well. Apart from being widespread, the appeal of Ancient Greek myths and histories comes from their timeless relevance. The story of Icarus is a cautionary tale about the perils of being too ambitious. Meanwhile, King Midas’ story teaches the timeless lesson that meaningful relationships and experiences will always trump excessive wealth.

It would be exciting to see whether Honkai: Star Rail’s Amphoreus will have their interpretations of these stories. It would also be interesting if the game decides to just borrow elements of Ancient Greek culture, but create a unique mythology for Amphoreus. Either way, Honkai: Star Rail can kill two birds with one stone with the introduction of new characters following the Remembrance and capitalizing on their audience’s familiarity with Greek myths in Version 3.0, and only time will tell if they can do so once the patch releases.
